Shortly after 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, a Nissan Pathfinder struck a boundary wall head-on in the garage, officials said. Five people were injured in the crash - including one in critical condition - who were all taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx for treatment. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
The crash caused structural damage to the garage, as fire crews and the City Engineer worked for several hours to make temporary fixes until a contractor could arrive. The mall remained open during the emergency work, though a large section of the garage was closed off to the public.
The crash remains under investigation. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.
